“The Process of Illustrating for Children’s Books April 2014,” 2 p.m. at Buttonwoods Museum, 240 Water St., Haverhill. Susan Spellman, a freelance illustrator for over 30 years, will give a talk and demonstration about her career as an artist/illustrator. Using three books she has illustrated, Spellman will explain the process from concept to finished product through slides and original sketches and illustrations. Finally, she will draw a sample illustration that might have appeared in the book “Charley,” which recently won a first prize award at the New England Book Festival. This event is being presented by the Greater Haverhill Arts Association. The public is welcome; space is limited.
