Department of Safety’s Boating Education Class, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Windham Fire Department, 3 Fellows Road. New Hampshire has a mandatory boating education law. Everyone 16 years of age and older who operates a motorboat over 25 horsepower on New Hampshire waters must have a boating education certificate. This program is designed to assist the boating public in having a safer, more enjoyable experience on the water through boating education. There is a $30 non-refundable fee per person for the class. Plaistow Lions Club’s Annual Golf Tournament, 8 a.m. shotgun start at the Granite Fields Golf Club in Kingston. The entry fee is $100 per player and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, cash prizes for winners and dinner. There will also be $1,000 in raffle prizes. All are welcome, including single players. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the Plaistow Lions’ charities. Sunday, May 18

Andover Garden Club to present “Petals & Palettes on a Sunday Afternoon,” noon to 5 p.m. at the Essex Art Center, Lower Level, 56 Island St., Lawrence. The event will feature artists, floral design, live music, art for sale, as well as appetizers and beverages. More than 70 pieces will be displayed, including sculpture, watercolor, oil painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, and fiber arts. Select pieces will be interpreted in floral arrangements “Art in Bloom.” Much of the artwork will be offered for sale, with a percentage of the proceeds going to support the work of the Andover Garden Club.
