23rd annual Summer Opportunities Fair, noon to 3 p.m. in the Smith Center, Phillips Academy campus, Andover. Sponsored by the Phillips Academy Summer Opportunities Office and the Parents of Students of Phillips Academy (PSPA). Students and their families will have a chance to meet with representatives from more than 100 local, national, and international summer programs. Among the wide range of programs that will be represented at the fair are those that focus on academic programs, language study, community service, camps, sports, arts, research, internships, outdoor adventure, and international travel. Non-Fiction Book Group meeting, 7 p.m. at the Hampstead Public Library, 9 Mary E. Clark Drive. “The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid” by Bill Bryson will be discussed. “Donate To Skate” event, noon to 2 p.m. at the Haverhilll Veteran’s Memorial Arena, behind Haverhill High School. Hosted by the Ice Skating Academy. This event will be a free skate for the public held in honor of National Ice Skating Month and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The theme is “Making Dreams Come True.” The Ice Skating Academy asks for attendees to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to Somebody Cares New England for entrance into the event. Also includes free ice rentals provided by the City of Haverhill courtesy of Vincent Ouellette, recreation director, DJ, and free snacks donated by The Ice Skating Academy and free instruction to those who would like it by ISA professionals, directed by Jill Pignatiello. theiceskatingacademy.us.
