Gift certificates of $20 or more, valid at local supermarkets, will be accepted in lieu of turkeys. Turkeys and gift certificates will be donated to the local food pantry. Presentation by professor/author & blogger Kevin Levin, 7 p.m. at the Nevins Memorial Library, 305 Broadway, Methuen. The presentation is part of the library’s year-long “Methuen Remembers the Civil War” project. Levin, the author of “Remembering the Battle of the Crater,” will discuss the true role of the African American soldier during the Civil War and the myth that has sprung up about their service in the Southern cause.
