METHUEN — Bestselling author Dennis Lehane will be visiting the Nevins Memorial Library at 305 Broadway on Monday, June 4, at 7 p.m.

Lehane, whose works include "Gone Baby Gone," "Mystic River," and "Moonlight Mile," will talk about his books and take audience questions.

Books will be available for sale and refreshments will be served.

I-93 work scheduled tomorrow night

SALEM — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces a lane closure will be in effect on Interstate 93 southbound between Exit 2 and Exit 1 in Salem. This work is scheduled for tomorrow from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday.

This lane closure is to allow for the installation of concrete barriers to separate traffic from the median work zone.

This work is weather dependent and will be postponed if poor weather conditions occur.

Uniformed officers and traffic control devices will be used to assist motorists through the work zone.

This work is part of the $30.5 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 1.

Ghost hunt fundraiser set for Saturday

HAVERHILL — Members of the Essex County Ghost Project and the Hilldale Cemetery Association will hold a ghost hunt fundraiser for the Greater Lawrence Education Collaborative (GLEC) Saturday at the Hilldale Cemetery.

The gates will open at 7:15 p.m. The ghost hunt starts at 8 p.m.

The team will lead members of the public through one of the most "haunted" graveyards in New England, looking for shadow figures, EVPS and ghostly mists.

Participants are asked to wear proper shoes and bring cameras and voice recorders. Tickets are $10 each at the door.

All proceeds go to the GLEC program.

Blessing of the bikes Sunday

HAVERHILL — St. John the Baptist will hold a Blessing of the Bikes and Blessing of the Bicycles Sunday following the 10 a.m. Mass.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served. Children are encouraged to bring their bicycles and have them blessed.

Zanni, DiFiore to speak at forum

METHUEN — Mayor Stephen Zanni will be joined by city Public Works Director Raymond DiFiore and DPW staff Thursday at the Methuen Senior Activity Center, 77 Lowell St.

Zanni will host an open forum with DiFiore as his guest from 10:45 a.m. to noon.

The forum is a chance for city residents to ask questions and learn more about how a key city department operates.

Admission is free and open to all who are interested in attending.

Enjoy Family Fun at Hedgehog Park

SALEM — Residents are invited to Family Fun Day at Hedgehog Park on Saturday.

Family Fun Day is from noon to 4 p.m. at the park on Lowell Road. There will be games, face-painting, swimming, karaoke and free refreshments.

The event is hosted by Greater Salem Vineyard, Grace Assembly Church, The Believers Meeting, Centerpoint Community Church, Rockingham Christian Church and The Crossing.

Principal, teacher to be honored in Salem

SALEM — Present and past Fisk School families and friends are invited to a retirement party for principal Susan Rhodes and teacher Diana Bates on Monday, June 4.

The event is from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the school's all-purpose room. Rhodes is retiring after working in the school district for 34 years. Bates has been a longtime teacher at the school.

Light refreshments will be served.
