Easter Carnival, 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lawrence Veterans Memorial Stadium, 70 North Parish Road. Features games, music, face painting, prizes, and refreshments. All children (ages 11 and under) are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Sponsored by the city of Lawrence, the Recreation Department, Sacred Heart Neighborhood Association, Lawrence Community Boating Program and LMCC. Call 978-620-3525.

St. Brigid’s Tea, 1 p.m. at the Lawrence Heritage State Park. This year’s entertainment will be by Irish singer, Paul Carroll from Dublin. LAOH scholarships will be presented. Tickets are $15. Call 978-794-8621.

“The Process of Illustrating for Children’s Books April 2014,” 2 p.m. at Buttonwoods Museum, 240 Water St., Haverhill. Susan Spellman, a freelance illustrator for over 30 years, will give a talk and demonstration about her career as an artist/illustrator. Using three books she has illustrated, Spellman will explain the process from concept to finished product through slides and original sketches and illustrations. Finally, she will draw a sample illustration that might have appeared in the book “Charley,” which recently won a first prize award at the New England Book Festival. This event is being presented by the Greater Haverhill Arts Association. The public is welcome; space is limited. Admission is free for members of the Greater Haverhill Arts Association and $5 for nonmembers. Visit haverhillartassociation.org.

April 27, May 4, 11 & 18

Healthy Kids Running Series, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at AVIS-West Parish Meadow, off Reservation Road, Andover. Pre-K will do the 50 yard dash, kindergarten and first grade will do the 1/4 mile, second and third graders will do the 1/2 mile, fourth and fifth graders and middle school students will do the one mile race. Top placers in each race will receive points based on their finish. The boy and girl racer with the most points at the end of the series will win a trophy and a prize. Medals will be awarded to every racer after the last race in the series. Gift bags will be distributed to all participants. Cost is $30 for the series, $10 per race.
