Amvets Ladies Auxiliary No. 147 of Haverhill, returned from their annual Massachusetts State Convention with top honors in their veterans unit, hospital programs, with the Georgia Gadbois Hospital Award and the Mickey Britton Membership Award, with Joanne Payson signing up the most new members for the 2011-2012 year. The Auxiliary also received many certificates for holding three or more projects each year. Auxiliary No. 147 also has top honors with members that will be holding office this year. Juanita Marchand of Auxiliary No. 147 was elected president, Cecile Lessard was elected sergeant of arms, Helen Johnson was elected public relations officer, and Joanne Payson was elected prize chairlady. These elected officers will take over in July and be in office until June 2013. The Ladies of Auxiliary No. 147 of Haverhill meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Post Quarters, 576 Primrose St. Open to the public. The Methuen-Salem Rotary club, recently celebrated their annual installation of officers for 2013 at the Black Water Grill and Restaurant in Salem, N.H. Trudy Lawler, from Michaud Insurance Agency in Methuen, became the new president of the club while Cheryl Parent became the immediate past president, and Ed Sidon received the distinguished Rotarian of the Year Award.
