Lawrence Chess Club meeting, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence Public Library, corner of Haverhill and Lawrence streets. Meetings are free to attend and held on the third Wednesday of each month. Bring a friend and a chess set. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Red Cross Training course for babysitting, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Pelham Public Library, 24 Village Green. For ages 11 and up. The course is designed to teach caregivers to respond to emergencies with first aid and rescue breathing, make good decisions under pressure, communicate effectively with parents, recognize safety and hygiene issues, and feed, diaper and care for infants. Free outdoor Latin Dance Event, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Campagnone Common Park, Lawrence. The mission is to provide free and safe entertainment to the community. Sponsored by the City of Lawrence.


Gentle Yoga Class, 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant St., Methuen. All ages and all fitness levels welcome. Stretch and relax the mind.
