The Andover Choral Society, invites new members to join. Rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7:20 to 9:30 p.m. at Christ Church in Andover. Call 603-893-5636 for more information.

The Hampstead Civic Club Chess Club, will run Sundays through the end of March at the Hampstead Civic Club from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Open to Hampstead residents only. All skill levels are welcome. There is no charge and snacks will be served. For more information, call Charlie Backman at 603-329-5867.

The Merrimack Valley Regional Reading Association, under the leadership of Sharon Ryan, spearheaded a drive among its members to donate new and gently used books to Lazarus House. With a $100 donation of new books from the association and members’ donations, a total of 347 books, two bookcases and a sit-upon soft mat made for a warm and inviting reading nook. The newly formed association is composed of teachers and retired teachers whose focus is to encourage literacy in the community as well as among professionals. The Plaistow Lions Club, meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of the month, September through June. The meeting on the second Thursday is held at the Atkinson Country Club, 85 Country Club Drive. The meeting on the fourth Thursday is held at the Vic Geary Center, 18 Greenough Road, Plaistow.
