Armenian Church at Hye Pointe’s annual picnic, noon to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Farm, 1314 Main St., Haverhill. The event will feature music by the Jason Naroian Ensemble, with Jason Naroian on dumbeg/vocals, John Arzigian on accordion and vocals, Leon Janikian on clarinet, Greg Takvorian on oud and vocals, Michael Naroian on dumbeg and Paul Mooradian on tambourine. The menu will feature shish, losh and chicken kebab dinners; kheyma, pilaf, pastries and beverages. Raffles for cash prizes and gift certificates will be held. Pentucket Players audition “King & I,” 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Lawrence Heritage State Park Visitors Center, second floor, 1 Jackson St. Auditions for teens and adults, including the role of Prince Chulalongkorn, will be held. The show is being directed by John Buzzell and produced by Marie Bliven. Pentucket Players Inc., now in its 20th anniversary season, is hoping for a cast of 50, including 20 children. Aug. 26-31

Book Sale, in the Hampstead Public Library’s second floor meeting room, 9 Mary E. Clark Drive. Books for children and adults, both fiction and nonfiction, plus audio books and DVDs, will be on sale. All will be sold for low prices. There will be a “Pre-Sale” on Aug. 23 and 24, for Hampstead library cardholders only. Then the sale will open to the general public Monday through Saturday.
