LAWRENCE — The Vu Family of 18 Emmett St., is the recipient of the Yard of the Month award for May.
"The efforts of Mr. Mac Vu and his family, have been an inspiration to the residents of Lawrence to keep the city clean and show great pride in their property," Mayor William Lantigua said.
Mac Vu and his family have made wonderful efforts to keep the sidewalks at Emmett and Kingston Street clear of trash and litter, Lantigua said in a statement. "It costs nothing but a little effort to keep the sidewalk and curb area free of trash and litter," Vu said.

Listen to some bluegrass in Atkinson
ATKINSON — The Taylor River Band will perform a summer concert in the courtyard at Kimball Library Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The Taylor River Band is a contemporary bluegrass band with Heather Mike on fiddle, Dave Dupouy on banjo, Ben Molin on bass and Doug Molin on guitar. TRB plays at venues throughout the area.

Medicare presentation for Baby Boomers
HAVERHILL — The city's Council on Aging will host a free discussion on Medicare June 25 at 10 a.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St., for recent retirees and Baby Boomers who are approaching age 65.
Participants will receive information on applying for Medicare, part D coverage, and many other aspects of applying for Medicare.
VFW planning cycle run to raise money
METHUEN — VFW Club 8349 is planning a motorcycle run this month to raise money for its facility hall.
