The Methuen Rail Trail Group, meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Nevins Memorial Library, 305 Broadway. The next meeting will be on Feb. 11. The planting of Railroad Street and Union Street will be discussed as well as grant applications and upcoming events. New members are welcome. Pentucket Kiwanis Club of Haverhill, meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays at Maria’s Restaurant, 81 Essex St., Haverhill. Help support and give back to children in the local community. Kiwanis’ mission is to serve the children of the world, one child and one community at a time.

The Adult Scrabble Club, meets every other Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Nevins Memorial Library, 305 Broadway, Methuen. All competition levels are welcome and light refreshments will be served. Friendly Persuasion Toastmasters Club, meets on the second and fourth Monday of the month from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, first floor auditorium, 140 Lincoln Ave., Haverhill. NH Retired Educators Association, offers three $1,500 scholarship awards to graduates of New Hampshire secondary schools. They are the Irene Hart Memorial Award, the NHREA Memorial Award and the Mary W. Ruell Memorial Award. Potential candidates are students in their junior year of an accredited college or university who are pursuing a course of study that leads to teacher certification. If in a five-year program, they must be in their senior year of study. Completed applications are due on May 1.
