The Massachusetts Military Academy (MMA) Alumni Association, seeks graduates of the MMA Officer Candidate School (OCS) graduates from all classes and all years. The academy will host a formal banquet and ball on Oct. 5, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Massachusetts Military Academy — the Officer Candidate School of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, 1913-2013. Clean-up Group, is looking for volunteers at the Merrimack River Park, Route 110, Haverhill. The group is hoping to meet once a month to keep the park clean. For more information or to join, contact Dick LeBlond at 978-372-8231.

The Hampstead Civic Club Chess Club, will run Sundays through the end of March at the Hampstead Civic Club from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Open to Hampstead residents only. All skill levels are welcome. There is no charge and snacks will be served. For more information, call Charlie Backman at 603-329-5867.

The Plaistow Lions Club, meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of the month, September through June. The meeting on the second Thursday is held at the Atkinson Country Club, 85 Country Club Drive. The meeting on the fourth Thursday is held at the Vic Geary Center, 18 Greenough Road, Plaistow.
