The 35th annual Spring Flea Market and festival will be held June 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 471 Main St.

Community block party Saturday
Haverhill's music scene is in high gear, and a variety of sounds will play at the Wingate Street "Hues of the Heart" free community block party Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
The band Division Tree includes veterans of the Haverhill music scene who perform their own brand of psychedelic rock at venues up and down the seacoast, from Portsmouth to Boston. Mud Flap Junior Jones are a rocking blues and funk rock group that performs catchy and witty tunes. Their original song "Red Sox Fan" is featured on 98.5 the Sports Hub. Alex Deras is a well-known singer of popular Spanish melodies. Hailing from El Salvador, his passion is salsa music.
In Columbus Park, Be Imagine Music Studios will present local youth bands at noon. They include Obsydian, featuring musicians ages 9 to 11 who perform a variety of rock music. The Sparx, ages 17 to 24, play R&B and soul music. Blast of Silence is a brand new band. Lost Thoughts, ages 14 to 15, play hard hitting punk-rock sounds. Woof!, ages 9 to 11, plays original tunes as well as rock and pop covers.
This free block party also features dancing in the streets, an art walk and chalk walk and other fun family activities.
Girls Inc. seeks alumni information
Girls Inc. of Greater Haverhill will celebrate its 100th birthday next year and during the countdown is planning a variety of activities including open houses, a 100th birthday bash in November and a Centennial Memory Book.
Girls Inc. is looking for alumni to help celebrate this milestone — girls who participated in its programs or attended Girls Inc. events, after-school programs or summer camps, parents and family members, and former employees and board members. Girls Inc. is reaching out to its alumni, asking about their lives, where they currently live and what they are doing. The organization is also looking for stories and photos of alumni experiences with Girls Inc. to include in a Centennial Memory Book.
Girls Inc. programs build self-esteem, foster creativity and promote critical thinking skills. Programs are offered on-site, in community venues, in several public schools, during school hours, after school, and through a summer camp.
