“Medical Practices in the Civil War and How They Led Us to Today,” 1 to 3 p.m. at the Nevins Library, 305 Broadway, Methuen. Dr. Ira Spar, a member of the Society of Civil War Surgeons, will present a discussion on the life and times in a Civil War hospital. He will also cover how the returning Civil War Union soldiers received health care through the auspices of the federal government.
