DERRY — The two incumbent town councilors will hold on to their seats for three more years.
Janet Fairbanks received 280 votes in District 1 to Maureen Heard's 198 votes. Kevin Coyle received 993 votes for councilor-at-large, while Joel Olbricht earned 733 votes and Alfred Garron received 59 votes.
Fairbanks and Coyle, who agree on most issues, said they are happy they are both returning to the council.
"I would have been devastated without Janet," Coyle said.
Fairbanks said she was initially hesitant to run for a second term but was encouraged by Coyle and some residents in her district.
After the votes were tallied last night, Fairbanks said she was happy residents in the district supported her re-election.
"It says that District 1 is happy with the service I've given them for the last three years," Fairbanks said.
Coyle also ran for school district moderator but lost in that race to Roger Konstant by about 20 votes.
Incumbent Neal Ochs and Mark Beland won the two three-year seats on the School Board by a wide margin.
Ochs received 950 votes and Beland got 930. Jeff Lawman received 479 votes while Joseph Carter earned 458 votes.
About 8 percent of the town's 21,000 registered voters went to the polls. The $78.5 million school operating budget was approved by a wide margin.
