Enjoy National Night Out today

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — The police Department invites people of all ages to a free National Night Out celebration today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Swasey Field on Blaisdell Street.

Police officers will be serving free hamburgers, hot-dogs, popcorn and soft drinks. Activities will include music from a disc jockey, face painting, bounce houses, carnival games, animal balloons and clown entertainment.

There will also be a child’s car seat check point where a certified installer will inspect your car seat and make sure it is properly installed in your vehicle and can also set up appointments for new installations. A fire truck and several police vehicles will be on display.

National Night Out is a community-police partnership held the first Tuesday of every August since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. These events aim to increase awareness about police programs, such as drug prevention, town watch, and other anti-crime efforts. This event is co-sponsored by Haverhill police and the Haverhill Target Store.
