Police arrest Haverhill man, 55, on drug trafficking charges

HAVERHILL — Police arrested a 55-year-old Freeman Street man on a variety of drug charges yesterday.

Richard Chase of 14 Freeman St., will be arraigned today on trafficking Class B drugs, distribution of Class B subsequent offense, possession with intent to distribute Class B subsequent offense and several motor vehicle charges. The Class B drugs are believed to be prescription pills.

Police said that Chase led police on a short chase after they tried pulling him over near the courthouse. He was stopped and arrested on Summer Street near the Main Street end at 10:14 a.m.

The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation.

He will be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.
