‘Ashes to go’ offered
On Ash Wednesday, March 5, St. James Episcopal Church in Groveland will offer “Ashes to Go,” a new approach to a centuries-old Christian tradition, at the Georgetown Park and Ride station from 8 to 9 a.m., and in front of the Georgetown Post Office, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
St. James Groveland, located at 119 Washington St., is part of a new nationwide movement that has clergy and lay people visiting transit stops, street corners, coffee shops, and college campuses to mark the foreheads of interested passers-by with ashes that mark the start of the holy season of Lent in preparation for the celebration of Easter.
For more information about this event, contact St. James at 978-373-1270. In addition to the open-air “Ashes to Go” ministry, St. James welcomes the public to an Ash Wednesday Service at 7 p.m., inside the church. St. James will offer imposition of ashes and Holy Communion, with music. Visit online at www.saintjamesgroveland.org or email email@example.com.
