Skies clear for Veterans Day ceremonies

The weekend weather warmed up just in time for Veterans Day services in the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire.

Ceremonies and memorial services were held yesterday throughout the region. In Haverhill, a parade was held yesterday that ended at the Global Peace Memorial on Ginty Boulevard.

In Lawrence, City Councilor Roger Twomey, a veteran himself, marked the holiday by hosting his annual Veterans Day breakfast at the Relief’s In.

Veterans Day commemorates the service of all United States military veterans.

The day of honor originates as Armistice Day and marked the end of World War I, which occurred at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.
