Priest to speak about spiritual journey

METHUEN — Former Episcopalian minister, the Rev. Jurgen Liias will speak about the spiritual journey that lead him to become a Roman Catholic priest, Jan. 6 at noon in Duperry Hall, St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth St.

Liias was ordained last April by Cardinal Sean O’Malley and is pastor of St. Gregory the Great Church in Beverly Farms.

His presentation is part of the parish’s luncheon speaker series. Free, but donations will be accepted to cover the cost of food.

Thrift shop seeks donations

DERRY — The Marion Gerrish Community Center thrift shop needs donations.

Donations are accepted at the center on West Broadway during regular operating hours, Monday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Yoga class offered at library

HAMPSTEAD — A free chair yoga class will be offered at the Hampstead Public Library on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 3 p.m.

Men and women are invited to try this fun and relaxing activity.

This class is good for stretching, strengthening and improving your health. Maggie Morgan from the Yoga Room in Hampstead will be teaching the class.

Boys & Girls Club accepts preschool applications

SALEM, N.H. — The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem will be accepting registrations for the 2014-2015 Preschool Program beginning Jan. 9. The programs include part-time nursery, part and full-time pre-K and kindergarten, as well as an extended day option that includes transportation to and from all Salem elementary schools.

Children must meet the following requirements: nursery, children must be 3 years old by Sept. 30 and toilet trained; pre-kindergarten, children must be 4 years old by Sept. 30; kindergarten, children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30. The extended day program is for pre-K and kindergarten only.
