Celebrating Women's History Month

In honor of March being Women’s History Month, the League of Women Voters of Greater Haverhill will hold a free program of music at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill, 15 Kenoza Ave., on (March 11 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The program, titled “Influential Women Composers from the 1100s to the 1940s: Repression and Recognition,” will focus on influential women composers of those eras, their stories and their works. Alice Donovan and Sally Heiter will perform piano and voice solos and duets, and will discuss these subjects.

Refreshments will be served after the program. Please enter at the rear entrance of the church on Ashland Street, where parking is available. More information is available by calling 978-374-6253.

Indoor flea market planned

The Ladies Philoptochos Society Elpis will hold an indoor flea market Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St.

Items available for purchase include furniture, clothing, glassware, books, jewelry, knick-knacks, and other bargains. Greek pastry will be for sale along with refreshments.

Tables are available for rent and can be reserved by calling 978-374-8887 or 978-373-3311.

The Ladies Philoptochos Society Elpis is a nonprofit organization of the church. Proceeds from this event will support various charities.

Pentucket Bank employees donate to Granite United Way

Nineteen Pentucket Bank employees working in the Hampstead and Salem, N.H., branches along with several others who live in New Hampshire recently gave $21,249 to Granite United Way.

“The employees that give during the United Way campaign don’t stop there, they are out in the community volunteering to improve the areas where they live and work,” said Patrick Tufts, president and CEO of Granite United Way. Tufts said Pentucket Bank’s President and CEO, Scott Cote, actively encourages his team to give back.

Pentucket Bank also hosts United Way campaigns in their Massachusetts locations and between both states they were able to give $68,145 through corporate and employee gifts.
