---- — The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce is holding auditions to crown the next winner of Haverhill Idol at KidsFEST 2013.
Auditions are Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, April 13 from noon to 5 p.m. at Haverhill Community Television, 60 Elm St. Contestants will be asked to perform one song, without music, in front of a panel of judges consisting of members from the business and music communities.
The competition is divided by two age groups: Junior Idol (grades 2 to 6) and Senior Idol (grades 7 to 12). A total of 10 participants, five Junior Idol finalists and five Senior Idol finalists will pass through the audition phase and perform in front of a live audience. The auditions are being held in collaboration with Merrimack Valley Hospital and Trinity EMS.
The top three winners in the Junior and Senior divisions will win savings bonds donated by Pentucket Bank. In addition, first-place winners will be offered the chance to perform at the Christmas Stroll in December and again at KidsFEST 2014. Applications are available on the Chamber’s website and must be submitted by April 11. A representative from the KidsFEST committee will notify applicants of their audition date and time. KidsFEST will be held Sunday, May 5 on the upper level of the Merrimack Street parking deck from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain date is Sunday, May 19. Admission is free. New boxing club to hold fundraiser dinner
Haverhill Downtown Boxing, a new boxing club set to open at 84 Locust St., will hold a pasta dinner fundraiser April 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sons of Italy, 124 Washington Street.

The Haverhill Lions Club will host annual Trivia Night April 6 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Haverhill Lodge of Elks, 24 Summer St.
There will be cash prizes, raffles, including a 50/50 raffle, and other fun activities. Teams of two to 10 are forming now. The registration fee is $10 per person.

Whittier Tech offers adult cooking class
Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School is offering a Spring Brunch enrichment cooking class lead by Carolyn Grieco April 22 at 6 p.m.
This hands-on adult cooking class will include instruction and recipes, followed by a meal celebrating fresh foods and flavors of the season.

District Parent Council to meet
The District Parent Council will meet Wednesday, April 3 from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. in the School Department’s Central Office, Room 104 in City Hall, 4 Summer St.

Rabies clinic Saturday April 6
GEORGETOWN — The annual Georgetown rabies clinic will be held Saturday, April 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Georgetown Highway Department on East Main Street.
The clinic is sponsored by the nonprofit Veterinary Association of the North Shore. The cost is $10 per pet, dogs and cats only, with proceeds going towards veterinary student scholarships.
Please have dogs on leashes and cats in carriers. Please bring proof of all previous valid rabies certificates to receive a three-year rabies vaccine, otherwise a one-year rabies vaccination will be given. All dogs and cats are required by law to have a current rabies vaccination.
Parish breakfast Saturday April 6
GROVELAND — The men of St. James Episcopal Church in Groveland will hold a breakfast for all members of the community in their Parish Hall on Saturday, April 6.
The breakfast is from 8 to 10 a.m. and includes bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, breakfast treats and more. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Library’s Robotics Club to meet April 8
The public library’s Robotics Club will meet April 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. Celebrate science and come help build and program the LEGO Mindstorm Robot.
Learn more about robotics, programming, and the coolest parts of science in the Teen Zone. Currently, the Robotics Club is working on color sensors.
