---- — HAVERHILL — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who robbed a 7-Eleven store on River Street at gunpoint early Saturday morning as well as suspects in other recent convenience store robberies in that part of the city.

Police said the latest robbery occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Saturday when a man dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and wearing what police described as “large” sunglasses entered the 7-Eleven at 503 River St. A male clerk and a friend of his were in the store at the time when the man walked in and demanded money, police said.

Police Deputy Chief Donald Thompson said the suspect pointed a black handgun at the clerk, handed the clerk a small bag and ordered him to put all the money in the bag.

“The clerk filled the bag with money from the register and the suspect ran out of the store and was last seen running toward Wilson Street,” Thompson said.

The suspect was described as approximately 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds.

Police are reviewing store video surveillance tapes and are asking for the public’s help in catching the robber.

Police are still looking for a man who robbed the Red Hen Market at 56 River St. on Friday, Aug. 16. The robbery happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. The suspect got away with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

Police said the store clerk told officers that he was in the cooler stacking shelves when a customer walked in. When the clerk walked out of the cooler, he saw a man dressed in a black hoodie and a mask, according to police.

The suspect waved the clerk over to him with a black, semi-automatic handgun, police said. The suspect then ordered the clerk to empty the cash drawers. Police said the suspect then fled the store with an undermined amount of cash and was last observed running towards Washington Street.

The clerk described the man as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds.

Police are also still looking for a suspect in the Aug. 25 armed robbery of the same Red Hen Market. In this incident, the suspect was described as being approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

In both robberies, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie and a mask and was carrying a black handgun when he entered the store. The robberies happened at approximately the same time of day, police said.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police at 978-373-1212. Messages can also be left on the police anonymous tip line by dialing 978-373-1212 and following the prompts.
