Frozen Shamrock 3-Mile Run postponed

---- — The Frozen Shamrock 3-Mile Run scheduled for Sunday has been postponed to April 14 at 1 p.m. due to concerns for the weather. Organizers said that trying to stage a 1,000-person race in less than ideal weather conditions would not be in the best interest of anyone. Flea Market

The Ladies Philoptochos Society Elpis will hold an indoor flea market March 2 at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St. Doors open at 9 a.m and close at 3 p.m. Items for sale include furniture, clothing, glassware, books, jewelry, knick knacks and other bargains. Greek pastry will be for sale along with refreshments. Tables are available for rent and can be reserved by calling 978-374-8887 or 978-373-3311. The Ladies Philoptochos Society Elpis is a nonprofit organization of the church. Proceeds from this event support various charities.

Haverhill Train Show is March 10

The Haverhill Train Show will be March 10 at Haverhill High School, 137 Monument St. Model and toy trains of different sizes will be operating on several displays. Dealers will have train related books, photos, models and toys. The show is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Since 1983, the train show has run every two years with proceeds supporting the Haverhill High School band. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children under 6. Band members, parents, both current and alumni who can help with the show are asked to contact John Muise at 978-373-0704.

Nutrition and health presentation is Tuesday

Nutrition and Health, a senior lunch presentation with Primary Care Physician William Ingram, MD is March 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. in Merrimack Valley Hospital’s first floor auditorium. Ingram will talk about the importance of, and misconceptions about, nutrition and health, as well as what is myth and truth in herbal medicine. Cost of $5 includes presentation and full lunch. Seminar on Cancer Care is Tuesday

The History of Cancer Treatment and Early Stage Breast Cancer, a medical Meet the Expert seminar with Han-Ting Lin, MD and Ankur Mehta, MD, Holy Family Hospital Cancer Center’s expert Medical Oncologists, is March 5, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Merrimack Valley Hospital’s first-floor auditorium. Attendees will learn how cancer treatment has evolved, the overall trend in cancer treatment, what the future holds for cancer care, and how early stage breast cancer is detected and treated. Registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. One contact hour in nursing awarded at the end of the presentation. Diabetes education offered

Home Health VNA would like to offer diabetes education in the community. A certified diabetes educator will provide education services to those diagnosed with diabetes. This program would be provided in groups, but each person would receive one individual session. All sessions are covered by Medicare. Topics to be discussed include healthly eating, being active, blood sugar monitoring, medications, problem solving and reducing complications. Chronic pain workshop offered

The Council on Aging will host a six-week Chronic Pain Workshop on Tuesdays, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. beginning March 5. Anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Diabetic Neuropathy, Crohn’s Disease, or other illnesses or conditions that include ongoing pain will benefit from this workshop.
