Bruins legend to speak at chamber business awards

Boston Bruins legend Rick Middleton, who was recently inducted into the Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame, will be the keynote speaker at the 23rd annual Business Awards Breakfast, presented by the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s Member Services Committee.

The event is Feb. 8 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Renaissance Golf Club, 377 Kenoza St.

Eleven businesses that received the Business of the Month awards for 2012 will be recognized during the breakfast. They are: Lowell Five Cent Savings Bank (January), Pentucket Medical Associates (February), Gold Leaf Fine Jewelry (March), Law Office of Attorney Thomas J. Sullivan (April), The Landmark Building (May), Baystate Financial Services LLC (June), Best Western Merrimack Valley (July/August), Spectrum Marketing Inc. (September), Holland’s Flowers of Bradford (October), Pentucket Bank (November) and Ashley’s Hallmark Shop (December).

The chamber will also recognize annual award recipients who have supported the chamber and their community in 2012, in addition to acting as leaders in their categories. In 2010, the chamber’s Membership Services Committee expanded the award categories from five to 13, considering all of the businesses that prospered during the difficult economic climate and made an impression in their industries.

Award categories and recipients are as follows: Business of the Year, Pentucket Medical Associates; Education, Career Resources Corporation; Family Owned Business, Nunan Florist & Greenhouses; Healthcare, Holy Family Hospital/a Steward Family Hospital; Manufacturing, Diversified Business Systems; Pioneer of the Year, Cakes by Erin, LLC; Restaurant, Krueger FlatBread; Retail/Wholesale, The Inside View LLC Interior Designs; Rookie of the Year, Skin Serenity Medispa; Service for Non-Profit, Bethany Homes Inc.; Service for Profit, Smile Braces; Technology, Hudson Design Group LLC; Women in Business, Chang’s Taekwondo America.
