Ruth's House, a nonprofit, nondenominational thrift store, will be moving from its current location at 30 Lafayette Square to its new and larger home at the former NAPA store at 111 Lafayette Square.

Plans are to reopen at the new location on May 1. The 17-year-old Ruth's House was recently named the 2009 Nonprofit Business of the Year by the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce. All items donated to Ruth's House are distributed to needy children and adults who are referred by social service agencies throughout the Merrimack Valley. All donations are tax-deductible, and donors will be issued receipts for their gifts.

Ruth's House is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Donations may be dropped off during store hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shop is closed on Sunday and Monday. More information is available by calling 978-521-5575.

Baseball player evaluations are Sunday

The Riverside-Bradford Baseball League will hold evaluations for players ages 9 to 14 on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the gymnasium at Consentino Middle School, 685 Washington St.

Walk-in registrations will be accepted for children ages 5 to 14 as of April 30. Mail-in and online registration are also available at www.rbbaseball.org.

Little League signup is tomorrow

Haverhill Little League baseball is still accepting registrations for the 2010 baseball season.

Players can register online at www.haverhilllittleleague.com or by printing out a form and bringing it to player evaluation day tomorrow at noon at Play Ball in Salem, N.H. Boys and girls ages 9 to 12 are eligible for the Major Division and ages 11 and 12 can earn a spot on a team that plays for a chance to go to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Also, all 12-year-olds are placed in the Major Division.

Senior baseball registration continues

Haverhill Senior Baseball is accepting applications for the spring season until March 20.

Openings exist for 13-year-olds to play in one division and for 14- and 15-year-olds to play in another division. Applications are available online at haverhillseniorbaseball.com. Applications will also be accepted on evaluation day, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Play Ball in Salem, N.H. City to hold rabies immunization clinic

The city's Health Department will conduct a rabies immunization clinic for dogs and cats on April 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the animal control shelter behind the Highway Department, 500 Primrose St.

There is a $10 fee per animal. Dogs must be at least 6 months old, and must be on a leash and accompanied by an adult. Cats must be in carriers. More information is available by calling the Health Department at 978-374-2325.
