HAVERHILL — Police are investigating spray paint vandalism reported at a Duncan Street business, Deputy Chief Donald Thompson said.
Officer Scott Gleed was sent to European Auto Body, 9 Duncan St., about 12:09 p.m. Monday after police were notified of the damage, Thompson said.
An employee of the business showed Gleed a storm door and two sections of a wall that were tagged with rounded, balloon-style lettering.
"It's a problem that is growing," Thompson said. "It's no longer just vacant buildings. We are seeing people's property and private homes being tagged."
He said police are working on an anti-graffiti initiative, which would begin in the spring.
Thompson said Detective Jack Moses, who is the department's graffiti expert, will investigate the Duncan Street damage.
