The Victor Emanuel Lodge, Sons of Italy, will hold its annual Pasta Fagioli contest on Saturday and the public is invited to be the judges.
The contest is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $5 for all the Pasta Fagioli you can eat. First, second and third place winners will be determined by popular vote. You can vote for the most creative and delicious Pasta e Fagioli, which in English means “Pasta and Beans.”
This culinary dish, often referred to as “pasta fazool,” was popular with many local Italian families, providing a healthy yet low-cost meal.

Bella Buildings Walk is tomorrow
As part of this weekend’s Essex National Heritage Trails & Sails events, local Historian Thomas Spitalere will lead a Bella Buildings Walk tomorrow, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Sons of Italy, 124 Washington St.
The walk will allow you to explore areas that made up the Italian district, including River Street, Washington Street and the lower part of the Mount Washington area.
Participants are encouraged to wear walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. If it rains, the event will move indoors for a lecture about Italian heritage. For more information, contact Thomas Spitalere at 978-376-2807.

Ghost Hunt tomorrow
As part of this weekend’s Essex National Heritage Trails & Sails events, members of the Essex County Ghost Project will lead a tour through one of New England’s most “haunted” graveyards, tomorrow at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Local psychic Kristen Kuri Morita will assist in leading the tour and will use her psychic abilities to help locate spirits.
