Learn 'How to Get Your News Into the Newspaper'

---- — The Greater Salem (N.H.) Chamber of Commerce, together with The Eagle-Tribune, is hosting a free workshop to learn “How to Get Your News Into the Newspaper.” Led by Karen Andreas, regional publisher of The Eagle-Tribune and North of Boston Media Group, the session will offer insight and tips for writing effective press releases, pitching stories to reporters and editors, and general tips for working with the newspaper staff. The session will also include special advertising ideas and incentives for chamber members.

The workshop will be held Friday, Dec. 6, at the Brookstone Event Center, 14 Route 111, in Derry, N.H. Coffee will be served beginning at 7:30 a.m., with the program running from 8 to 9 a.m.

Golden Hill School holds annual holiday Pancake Breakfast

Golden Hill Elementary School will hold its popular holiday Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the school, 140 Boardman St. Past breakfasts have been very well attended, according to Principal Bonnie Antkowiak. Cost is $3 per person or $12 for a family of up to five. This event is open to members of the community, even those who do not live near Golden Hill or have children in the district. The event will also feature a Reindeer Games area, performances by the Drama Club and Chorus, and a PTO Holiday Store. Pictures with Santa are $3. Tickets will be sold for grab bags, used children’s books, games, crafts, raffles and a 50/50 raffle. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Pancake Breakfast with Santa is planned for Saturday

Sarah’s Place Adult Day Health will host the Greater Haverhill Breakfast Exchange Club’s Pancake Breakfast with Santa and a Holiday Fair on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at 180 Water St. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 per family for pancakes and juice. Coffee and cocoa will be available for purchase. Proceeds will help elders defray the high costs of heating homes this winter. The Holiday Fair is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature craft tables, white elephant tables, raffle tables and baked goods. Proceeds from the Holiday Fair will benefit arts and crafts, entertainment and activities offered by the program. More information is available from Amy Anwyl at 978-374-2175. Free Winter Concert is Saturday

Northpoint Bible College will present its free Winter Concert on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. Directed by Alan Bailey, music professor and accompanied by Beth Soucie, piano instructor, the concert will include music from the Broadway show, Godspell by Stephen Schwartz, along with traditional Christmas numbers. The concert will feature Northpoint Bible College Choir and the a cappella choir, Broken Silence. The concert will be held in the Fine Arts Center on the Northpoint campus, located within the library building at 320 South Main St. For more information, call 978-478-3400.

Interfaith Choir performances are this weekend

The Hampstead (N.H.) Congregational Church will host free holiday performances by The Interfaith Choir on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at Hampstead Congregational Church, 61 Main St., Hampstead, N.H., and on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 471 Main St., Haverhill. Celebrating its 48th year, the choir is comprised of members representing more than 20 local churches. Special guests are The Windham Flute Ensemble and the children’s voices of The King’s Choir. Director is Cindy Ladew and accompanist is Larry Thompson. A freewill offering will be taken and refreshments and fellowship will follow. More information is available by calling 603-329-6047.

Cocoa with Santa is Saturday

Winnekenni Castle will host its annual Cocoa with Santa on Saturday, Dec 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $3 for children and $5 for grown-ups. The event will include treats and sweets, hot and cold drinks, including Cocoa. Enjoy kiddie games and holiday activities by Little Sprouts Haverhill/NECC. A visit and photo opportunity with St. Nick by More than Memories Photography is included along with a take-home disc with a photo of each child. Free Holiday Concert is Sunday

Winnekenni Castle will host a free Holiday Concert on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. Music Maximus returns to the Castle to ring in the holidays with children’s music, traditional tunes, seasonal and holiday music along with sing-a-longs.
