HAVERHILL — Police have arrested a suspect in Monday’s robbery of the Pentucket Bank branch across from Westgate Plaza on Lowell Avenue.
Daniel Pierce, 30, 303 Kingsbury Ave., was held overnight at the Haverhill Police Station and will be arraigned this morning for unarmed robbery in Haverhill District Court, Deputy police Chief Donald Thompson said.
The arrest was based on tips generated from The Eagle-Tribune’s timely publishing of the bank robbery story and surveillance photos from the bank,” police Lt. Robert Pistone said.
Police said the suspect entered the bank just after 2 p.m. while wearing a mask that covered half his face. The man approached a teller and demanded cash, and the teller complied. The man then left the bank on foot.
Pistone said detectives followed up on numerous tips, which led to the collection of evidence and information tying Pierce to the crime.
“The Haverhill Detective Division worked tirelessly as a team the past three days on this bank robbery, which resulted in Pierce’s arrest less than 72 hours after the bank robbery,” Pistone said.
