Shots fired into bedrooms; miss mom and child

LAWRENCE — Police are looking for information into a shooting where no one was injured, but two bullets came into two bedrooms, one inches from a woman’s head while she was in bed with her baby in the room.

The woman, the baby and the baby’s father all were in the room watching television at 67 Sullivan Ave., when the woman said she heard four shots at 3:52 a.m. Sunday.

One of the shots went through the bedroom window, through the headboard inches from her head, and bounced off the ceiling and wall, landing behind the baby’s crib. Police retrieved the bullet.

Another of the shots broke through the window in the next bedroom, where the woman’s older daughter was sleeping. The girl was not injured, though she was covered in shattered glass. That bullet was not found.

The woman told police she was not sure whether the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle, though she described the incident as a drive by. She said she has lived there for eight years and has not had problems with anyone.
