Police seek driver of car that crashed into house on Colby Street

HAVERHILL — Police are looking for the driver of a white station wagon that crashed into a house at 132 Colby St. a few minutes before midnight yesterday.

The car crashed through a fence but did very little damage to the house. An evergreen bush appeared to have prevented the vehicle from breaking through the wall.

"I heard a little bump," said Margaret DiGrazia, who owns the house with her husband Christopher DiGrazia. She at first thought a car had been struck — until a neighbor told her a car had run into her house, she said.

Scott Marquis, of Colby Street, said he heard a crash, then saw the car against the house. The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene, he said.

"I saw three or four kids run off," he said. Police found two passengers, who were picked up by their parents, but the driver had not been located as of 12:30 a.m. today, Marquis said.

Bradford Towing pulled the car onto a ramp truck. The station wagon did not appear to be heavily damaged.
