Hospital welcomes new doctor

Merrimack Valley Hospital has announced that primary care physician William Ingram has joined Steward Medical Group and will begin practice in Haverhill on Jan. 2.

His move is the latest in a trend of doctors joining the hospital and setting up offices in a building attached to the hospital. Merrimack Valley Hospital officials said the arrangement is designed to make it easy for patients to receive testing and treatment at the hospital as they visit their doctors.

A graduate of University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Ingram completed his internship and junior residency at Boston City Hospital, and served as senior resident in Medicine at Boston University Hospital. He is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Quality Assurance and Utilization Review. His special interests include heart disease, prostate cancer and nutrition.

Ingram will join Dr. Marcia Chatfield at Advanced Internal Medicine of Haverhill. Their office is located in Suite 303 of Merrimack Medical Center, the office building at 62 Brown St. attached to Merrimack Valley Hospital.

He is an investigator in clinical trials for flu, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension and Alzheimer’s disease with ActivMed Practices and Research.
