---- — HAVERHILL — Police say a 19-year-old Haverhill man was shot multiple times after being dropped off to pick up his belongings from a Freeman Street apartment early Sunday evening.
The man, whose name is not being released at this time, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital for multiple gunshot wounds and was later transferred to a Boston area hospital.
Police said that as of midnight Sunday, the man was listed in critical but stable condition.
Police Deputy Chief Donald Thompson said police were notified at 5:49 p.m. Sunday of a shooting on Freeman Street, which is in the Mount Washington neighborhood.
Officers found the man lying in the street with multiple gun shot wounds in the area of 43 Freeman St. Thompson said the incident is under investigation by Detective Andrea Fogarty. Police asked that anyone with information call her at 978-373-1212, ext 1558.
