New England Patriots coming to Haverhill

Members of the New England Patriots will be in the city tomorrow night to play in a charity basketball game against a Haverhill Boys Club alumni squad.

Game time is 7 p.m. at the Haverhill High School gym. Local Dunkin' Donuts employees are scheduled to play the first quarter. The Boys Club has had members of the Patriots playing the club's alumni all-stars for the past 16 years. This is the club's major fundraiser for the year.

At halftime, Patriots will sign autographs, which are free to ticket holders. Tickets to the game are $10 each and are only available by calling the Boys Club at 978-374-6171.

Filming by community TV begins May 12. Registration is $30. The winners will get $1,000 cash donated by Trinity EMS and the production of a music video donated by BTE Multimedia.

Poets to read works

Members of Greater Haverhill Poets will gather to read their poetry April 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Borders Bookstore at The Loop in Methuen.

They have selected poems from their group's most recently published books: "Voices" of Haverhill and "Pen and Brush." Both books were supported by grants from the Haverhill Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The group meets on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at the public library and welcomes new members. More information is available by calling 978-373-7265 or at gapeachnma@aol.com.
