Haverhill sisters raise money for cancer fight

Christine Benjamin and Lynn Greenlay-Bucuzzo, both of Haverhill, will hold a yard sale May 31 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 128-131 Winona Ave., to raise money for the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day — a walk benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust.

Rain date is June 1.

In order to participate, each walker must commit to raising a minimum of $2,200.

"I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year," said Greenlay-Bucuzzo. "I was very fortunate to be diagnosed early as a result of a routine mammogram that saved my life. Not only was I blessed with excellent medical treatment and amazing support and prayers from family, friends, my church and my co-workers, but my sister was also by my side every step of the way."

The Sisters Walking with Hope team of Greenlay-Bucuzzo and her sister Christine Benjamin will attempt to walk 60 miles in three days beginning Aug. 15. They'll be staying in tents at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey.

Donation forms will be available at the yard sale.

"We are walking with hope for a future without breast cancer," Benjamin said.

You also can donate online at http://08.the3day.org/goto/Sisters.Walking.

Proceeds from the walk fund breast cancer research, education, and community outreach programs. More information is available at www.The3Day.org, or by calling 800.996.3DAY.
