Haverhill police log Police probe passing of counterfeit $20 bill

HAVERHILL — A counterfeit $20 bill was passed at a local business Wednesday morning, police said.

Patrolman Todd Smith said in his report that the phony bill was received by Irving Oil, 32 Knipe Road, between 7 and 8 a.m. The fake $20 note was tagged and placed in evidence. Detective Dan MacDonald is investigating.

A Hancock Street resident told police a Garmin Nuvi GPS, valued at $400, and a Sirius satellite radio worth $70 were stolen from his 2001 Ford Econoline between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday. The victim said the thief entered the van by smashing the passenger side window.

An ROTC instructor at Haverhill High School said a DVD/VCR was stolen from his classroom in the C wing at the high school sometime before 8 a.m. Tuesday. He said the classroom was unlocked due to construction in the building.
