HAVERHILL — Police were waiting for Stanley MacKinnon to come to the post office to pick up a package, and when he did they arrested him on five counts of possession of child pornography yesterday afternoon.
MacKinnon, 64, of 75 Keeley St., was arrested after a joint investigation by Haverhill police and U.S. Postal Service inspectors, police Deputy Chief Donald Thompson said.
Detective Jack Moses arrested MacKinnon at the post office in Washington Square at 9 a.m., when he went there to pick up a package, police Sgt. John Arahovites said. The package contained several DVDs that showed children engaged in sexual acts, Arahovites said.
MacKinnon is employed as a limousine driver and showed up at the post office in a limousine, he said.
Arahovites said he could not provide further details because the investigation continues. Other charges could be lodged, he said.
Asked if other people could be charged, Arahovites said that is possible.
"Somebody had to photograph (the children) and somebody had to send it," he said.
