Festival of Trees celebrates emerald anniversary

METHUEN — The Festival of Trees Inc. announces its Emerald Anniversary Festival of Trees holiday event for Friday, Nov. 22 . This celebration will kick off with the Emerald Anniversary Taste of the Festival with celebrity Chef Mary Ann Esposito of the PBS cooking series Ciao Italia. It will showcase dishes from local restaurants as well as the unveiling of 240 Christmas trees and wreaths.

“We are honored to have Chef Mary Ann Esposito as our special guest this year to help celebrate the Festival’s 20-year milestone,” said Sharon Pollard, President of the Festival of Trees.

The Festival of Trees is the largest of its kind in New England. Since it began in 1994, more than 1,200 people, businesses and organizations have donated trees and 1,500 volunteers have donated their time.

The Festival of Trees will officially open on Saturday, Nov. 23 and run through Saturday, Dec. 7. All 240 Christmas trees and wreaths will be on display for 2 weeks and raffled off on the closing day of the festival.

Salem charter school hosts fundraiser

SALEM — The Birches Academy of Academics & Art is having its Fill Your Cup fundraiser Nov. 13 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Atkinson Country Club to help raise money for a new all-purpose room at the school. The room would be used as a gymnasium and for meetings, plays and other events.

Guests can select a handcrafted mug or bowl and fill it with a variety of soups, bread and appetizers from area restaurants.

Bullying forum slated in Pelham

PELHAM — Pelham Elementary School, in conjunction with School Resource Officer Brian Kelly and the Pelham Police Department, will present a forum Nov. 13 titled “Understanding Differences Between Peer Conflict and Bullying.”

This session is being conducted to provide information to parents regarding peer conflict versus bullying and will be filmed by PTV to be shown at a later date.
