Hillstock 2014 starts at GAR Park tomorrow

Contemporary Christian bands and soloists will fill GAR Park with uplifting music and praise when New Life Christian Assembly of God presents “Hillstock 2014.”

The celebration kicks off tomorrow at 7 p.m. at New Life Christian Assembly, 966 Main St., with a worship concert featuring the Life Worship Band from Webster. The celebration continues outdoors on Friday at 7 p.m. in GAR Park with performances by Christian bands, including featured acts The Jesus Project, DMR Band, Kristen Hodge, and soloists and musicians from the church. The public is invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the festivities.

A show on Saturday at GAR Park from noon to 5 p.m. will feature live music, videos, dance teams, rap, Christian bands and soloists, and a special puppet show for children. The event will also feature face painting, hair braiding, pony rides, dunk tank, snow cones, popcorn, hot dogs and drinks, all for free. There will also be free raffles of items such as bicycles, school backpacks, CDs and sports items.

Services on Sunday will be at New Life Christian Assembly at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. and will feature performances of the Brockton Men’s Teen Challenge Choir.

Evening of psychic readings, healingset for Thursday

Winnekenni Castle will host an evening of psychic readings on Thursday from 5 to 9:30 p.m., which is the new and earlier starting time for this event.

Readers will be on hand inside the castle for appointments. The castle’s regular readers, Judith-Anne, Valeria, Fay Martin and newly joined psychic medium from Ireland, Colleen Costello, will welcome special guest reader of the month Terri Bessette, who will share her gift of reading both cards and runes (mystical stones).
