The Haverhill Foundation for Excellence in Education held its annual Trivia Night at Maria’s Galleria on Essex Street on May 10.
The event raised nearly $3,000 to support special projects and programs in Haverhill public schools, such as the Model United Nations and Haverhill Robotics teams, both of which have been competing successfully in national competitions, and the District Parent Council’s annual Write Away!! Contest.
Teams competed for prizes ranging from $50 to $300. Liz Porrozzo, Trivia Jockey from Stump Trivia, conducted four rounds of questions, plus a special Haverhill round focusing on unique Haverhill facts. Teams were challenged with questions such as, “Name six of the seven lakes/ponds in Haverhill?”
The “Know It Alls,” led by retired Haverhill High Principal Bernard Nangle, was the top scoring team. Second place winner was “The Thinkers,” led by Stephanie Tanguay. In third was “Addicted to Law,” led by Attorney Joel Rosen, and finishing fourth was the “Fake Diamonds,” led by Phil Donnelly.
Team “Mother’s Little Helpers,” led by Peter Carbone, won the special Haverhill round.
Tax deductible donations to support these programs as well as others can be sent to the HFEE, Box 1864, Haverhill, MA 01831.
