Haverhill police log

HAVERHILL — A South River Street couple told police the glove compartments of their cars were ransacked sometime Monday morning.

The wife said a pair of hair clippers was stolen.

A Broadway resident said the tire of her car was slashed while it was parked at the Westgate Plaza Tuesday night.

A Summer Street resident reported a basement window of his home and his car windshield were smashed between 8 a.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

He estimated the damage at $550.

A 3-by-4-foot window on the south side of Golden Hill Elementary School was broken by a rock, police said.

The vandalism occurred sometime during the weekend. A Stetson Street man said an iPod was stolen from his daughter's car late Tuesday afternoon.

He said he saw two boys, dressed in shorts and hooded sweat shirts, pedaling away from the scene on bicycles.

The following incidents were taken from the Haverhill police log for Tuesday:

Vandalism: 140 Boardman St., 6:18 a.m.

Assault with a dangerous weapon: 20 Westland Terrace, 10:10 a.m.

Motor vehicle fire: Laurel Avenue, 10:31 a.m.

Vandalism to vehicle: Amesbury Road, 3:28 p.m.

Arrest: Courtney Matheson, 30, of 41 8th Ave., operating after license suspension, Main Street and Taft Avenue, 3:40 p.m.

Larceny: 312 River St., 5:59 p.m.

Arrest: Eduardo Torres, 29, of 77 Bellevue Ave., operating after license suspension, improper operation of a motor vehicle, 68 Bellevue Ave., 7 p.m.

Larceny: 39 Bellevue Ave., 9:05 p.m.
