HAVERHILL — A Colby Street boy who received a skateboard for his birthday on Saturday was without it on Sunday.

The boy told police that he left his skateboard outside at 6:30 p.m., then went inside his home for 15 minutes. When he returned his birthday present was gone. The boy told police he checked the area but was unable to find it, and that he had not seen anyone in the area. He described the skateboard as a black and pink Bam Margera Element brand with "BAM" written in purple on the bottom, with silver trucks and white wheels.

A woman told police that someone took her $550 brown Coach brand purse containing a credit card, $30 to $40 in cash, a $250 paycheck, her New Hampshire driver's licence and Social Security card from her car, a red 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix which she had parked at 14 Philip Street. She said she left the car at 8:50 p.m. and when she returned 25 minutes later she discovered her purse was missing. Police advised the woman to cancel her check, credit card and to notify credit reporting agencies.

A man at 239 Concord St. told police that on Saturday at 7 a.m. he discovered his mailbox was missing from its post. In its place was a mailbox that had been broken off a post at 251 Concord St. Police said several other mailboxes in that area were damaged that morning, including a $350, 65-pound ornamental cast iron mailbox at 179 Concord St. that was broken off at its base. Police said the suspect's vehicle left tire tracks — from a light truck or SUV — in the mud in front of the box. The box appeared to have been knocked off when the vehicle pulled up alongside. Police said the suspects then struck the box with something other than the vehicle.
