Homeless man robbed on the street

HAVERHILL — A 45-year-old homeless man told police he was robbed of $70 cash as he walked on White Street about 4:27 a.m., Sunday.

Deputy Police Chief Donald Thompson said the man went to the police station to report the robbery.

The victim told police he was walking on White Street he was approached by two men, one of whom asked him for a cigarette.

"As he was replying, they came closer and grabbed him, and one of them pulled a knife," Thompson said.

The men robbed him of his cash and during the robbery, he suffered a deep cut to his right thumb that required medical treatment, police said.
