Firefighting Museum to unveil new Children's Corner

Arc Candlelight Ball is Friday evening

The Arc of Greater Haverhill-Newburyport will hold its 52nd anniversary Candlelight Ball on Friday at DiBurro’s in Ward Hill. Social hour is at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The awards program begins at 8:30 p.m. Dancing is until 11 p.m. Music is by D.J. Tony Colleto. Tickets, at the door, are $40 per person. The facility is handicap accessible.

The Arc provides an array of services and support for families and individuals and includes over 140,000 members affiliated through more than 730 state and local chapters across the nation. The Arc is devoted to promoting and improving supports and services for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Car wash fundraiser for HHS lacrosse team

Haverhill High School’s lacrosse team will hold a car wash fundraiser on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Water Street Fire Station. Rain date is Sunday, same time. Proceeds support the team’s needs throughout the year as well as a banquet at the end of the year.

Trivia night on tapon May 10

The Haverhill Foundation for Excellence in Education (HFEE) will host its annual Trivia Night on May 10 at Maria’s Galleria on Essex Street. Check-in begins at 6:30 p.m. and the competition begins at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $25 per person. Teams of two-to eight members are required to register and pay the entry fee in advance by visiting online at www.HaverhillEducationFoundation.org or by calling 978-697-5620. First prize is $300, second prize is $100, and third prize is $50. A special Haverhill round offers a $50 prize.

The last Trivia Night event raised nearly $4,000 to help support education in the Haverhill Public Schools. HFEE is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that supports programs and projects in the Haverhill Public Schools. The Haverhill High Model UN team, the Discovery Club after-school and summer program, the Robotics program as well as the annual District Parent Council Write Away Contest have received support from HFEE.
