Meeting planned on new school proposal

The District Parent Council and the Haverhill Foundation for Excellence in Education will host an informational evening about the proposed new Hunking School on May 14 at 7 p.m. at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St.

NECC to host free student concert

Students from two Northern Essex Community College music courses — music technology: composition and audio recording II, which are part of the NECC audio recording certificate program, will present a free end-of-semester performance tonight at 7 in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St.

NECC Jazz Ensemble performs tomorrow

Northern Essex Community College’s jazz ensemble will perform a free concert tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St.

The performance, which is open to the public, will feature classic jazz standards from composers including Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. A small reception will follow the concert. Under the direction of Michael Lecuyer, the jazz ensemble includes trumpeter Lindsay Michaud of Lowell; vocalist Ashley Byron of Lowell, guitarist John Francavilla of Haverhill, guitarist Tad Baker of Salisbury, and guitarist Duncan Pringle of Londonderry, N.H. NECC Chamber Ensemble performs

Northern Essex Community College’s Chamber Ensemble, under the direction of NECC music professor Christina Dietrich, will perform a free concert on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St. The public is invited.

The program includes opera arias as well as Broadway hits with instrumental works by Bach, Mozart, Delibes, Saint-Saëns, Schubert, Schönberg, and others. More information is available from Christina Dietrich at cdietrich@necc.mass.edu.
