American Legion Post 27 will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade at 10 a.m. All veterans are invited to march in the parade, which will start at the high school. Muster at the Post starting at 9 a.m. After the parade, there will be a cookout at 6 Sargent Road. All veterans are welcome to attend regardless of whether they are a member of the American Legion.
At 9:30 a.m., the parade will form at Methuen American Legion Post 122, 200 Broadway. Active duty service members, reservists, National Guard and veterans are invited to march. At 10 a.m., the parade will step off and proceed north on Broadway to the Charles Street monuments for a ceremony. The parade will reform and proceed down Charles Street over Hampshire Street, left on Lowell Street past the Central Fire Station, and left on Grove Street to the American Legion monument for a ceremony. The parade will reform and return down Grove Street, left on Lowell Street, right on Barker past the Senior Activity Center, right on Pelham Street, left on Lowell Street passing the Central Fire Station, right on Hampshire Street, right on Broadway and return to American Legion Post 122 to end the march. There will be a noon ceremony by Arnold Greenwood Post 8349, Veterans of Foreign Wars, at the veterans lot of Elmwood Cemetery.
At 10 a.m., the Memorial Day Parade will form on the west side of the Old Center Common (Osgood and Andover streets). The parade will then go right onto Massachusetts Avenue and then head left onto Salem Street, ending at Ridgewood Cemetery for a ceremony. After the ceremony, the parade will reform and proceed back to the common and disperse. A small contingency will form at VFW Post 2104 on Park Street for a ceremonial flag raising and reception. In the event of inclement weather, services will be held in the Middle School Veterans Auditorium at 10:30 a.m.
