Library’s monthly book club will meet

The public library’s Get Lit book club will meet June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Barking Dog Ale House on Washington Street.

The club, aimed at 20- and 30-somethings, will discuss “The Weight of Blood” by Laura McHugh. Register online at www.haverhillpl.org under Calendar of Events or call 978-373-1586, ext. 641.

Learn how to research your family history

Have you ever thought about researching your family history but didn’t know where to begin?

The public library can help. Elysia Hamelin, librarian in the special collections department, will teach a free introduction to genealogy class on June 24 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Registration is required and begins June 10.

Hamelin, a trained archivist with a master’s degree in library science in archiving, will review the first steps you need to take to begin your research, the types of records that are available, where to look for information and what resources the library has. More information is available by calling 978-373-1586, ext. 608. Sign-up online at www.haverhillpl.org under Calendar of Events or drop by the Information Desk. Space is limited.
