I-495 crash halts rush-hour traffic

METHUEN — Drivers on Interstate 495 north have been caught in a traffic jam early this evening, as a crash caused havoc during rush hour.

A crash at the junction of Route 110 and I-495 in Methuen brought traffic to as near halt and also caused slowdowns on highway ramps in the area as drivers tried to get off I-495. State police said the crash was relatively minor, but it did cause a huge backup shortly atfer 5 p.m.

State police said one person was taken to the hospital. No other information on that person's condition was available.Two cars involved in the accident had to be towed from the scene, according to State Police Trooper Timothy Leeman.
